Adventure Jar!

Summer is officially over for us as a family :( Dave had to report to work today. We had a great July but we so wish we had all of August together as well! Throughout July we did whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. That meant that our typical day looked a bit like this: Everyone wakes up between 8:30-9:00 a.m., then we read or watched t.v. for a bit and finally someone might say around 11:00 that they were hungry for breakfast. We'd eat breakfast and then finally we might decide to get out of our jammies and go do something! So, with August here and Dave at work I decided that the girls and I needed to start to get back on track schedule wise. So last night we sat down and brainstormed different things we could do together while Dave was at work. I wanted them to be low cost (a few in the jar, aren't!) and something we could all do together.

Taylor woke up bright and early this morning (7 a.m.!) and insisted on drawing the first adventure for us: a picnic. The girls were quite excited and low and behold we were in the car, dressed, teeth brushed and ready to go by 11:00! We went to a fun park at the Lacey Community Center that is a favorite of the girls. We haven't been all summer so they had a blast. Plus when we first arrived it was CHILLY- we had to wear sweatshirts with hoods so no one was really at the park which was an added bonus! We ate and played and had a marvelous time.

After our picnic we ended up going to Target to pick out backpacks for school in the fall. Maddie ended up with an iCarly backpack (oh, joy!) and Taylor ended up getting a messenger bag that looks just like her and it fits her personality to a tee(Did I mention that we actually had to go to Fred Meyer as well to compare the messenger bags??)!

A fun day for sure! Maddie gets to pick an adventure out of the jar tomorrow...stay tuned!
