Katie

Isn't she just the cutest pregnant person you have ever seen? Katie (and Tim) is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first son (due date is October 31st) and we honored her and Whoozit (that is what he will probably be called forever as he still doesn't have a name!)at a shower this past weekend at my mom's house. She looked beautiful and we are so excited to meet the newest addition to our family!

The Yard

Our yard has gone through a major face lift these last few weeks. We have had our friend working on it pretty much night and day to help us get it ready for the upcoming winter. He has put in our french drain system and gotten the final grade done so that we are able to plant grass seed. We are very excited about this! I thought we would have to wait until the spring but it looks like we will be planting grass this weekend. Lets just hope that the grass will actually grow- Dave and I don't have the best track record with grass :) Then again, we hadn't had the best track record for picking up after ourselves either and that seems to have been fixed since we've moved in- right mom?? :)

My two new cars....been here for over a month, we should probably start charging rent for them :)

Window Clings...

Halloween talk is definitely in the Myers household already...not even October and here we are reading Halloween stories and changing our minds every other minute about what we are going to be for Halloween! Taylor is still deciding between being Cinderella or Ariel and Maddie is sticking so far to wanting to be Tinker Bell. Not to mention that Taylor and Maddie are insisting on Dave being Spiderman...to be continued with that costume :)

I pulled out our fall decorations on Friday and you would have thought I had just bought the girls the best present ever! They were so cute looking through all the decorations and picking out some of them to go in their rooms. Once they found the window clings they were set for the night! Taylor laid them all out on the counter and then the girls divided them up between the two of them. They were then off to put them on their bedroom windows! It cracked me up how excited they were. I think we are in for a fun all around holiday season this year :)

I thoroughly enjoyed pulling out all the decorations as well seeming how they have been boxed in storage for the last two years! It was a fun evening!

I love this picture of Maddie...hands in her lap and so proud of her window clings- Did you notice how close they all are together??

Art Class

At Taylor and Maddie's daycare they are able to do two days of preschool which is fantastic but Dave and I really wanted Taylor to be able to be exposed this year to as many different things as possible since she is not participating in an actual preschool. We are not concerned about her academically but want her to continue to work on her social skills this year. She can be very shy and not talk (shocking, I know!) when she is nervous or put on the spot. So, she has already begun ballet lessons and is very excited about her upcoming performance of the Nutcracker (she is really hoping to be a Mouse!) and just started taking an art class through the Lacey Parks and Rec. My friend Krista's daughter is also going to the class and she has graciously offered to pick up my girls from Daycare and drive them to the class. Taylor and Kaylin go to the art class while Macie and Maddie get to play at the playground. It was so sweet of her to offer to do this and Taylor is LOVING the class! I was able to go to the first class with her (I snuck out of a meeting early...) and I was impressed and PROUD of her! She was such a good listener and although a little shy, did a great job of interacting with the teacher as well as the other students in the class. I was really impressed with the teacher and her first lesson- horizontal and vertical lines- Wow! And that lines turn into shapes. I loved it and Taylor asks us every day when her next class is.

Tumwater Falls

It has been such a beautiful weekend! We got up early today and decided that we needed to do something outside and so we headed to Tumwater Falls for a hike! The girls did really well and only started complaining about having to walk when we got to the final big hill. At Tumwater Falls they have a salmon hatchery and it was packed with salmon that are getting ready to lay their eggs. The girls loved watching them (they were huge) and got excited when they tried to "jump" out! The hike itself is relatively short (probably less than a mile) and the trail was so beautiful with the sun out in full force! After the hike we headed to the park that neighbor's the trail and spent some time sliding, hanging from the monkey bars and running around! It was the perfect way to end our weekend.

The girls weeks went so much more smoothly at daycare this past week. Taylor is fully embracing everything that is new at the daycare and seems to really be enjoying it. Miss Brenda is doing two days of preschool with the kids each week and Taylor LOVES doing school! Maddie had a rough drop off on Tuesday but the rest of the week she did really well with little to no crying. She has a new friend named Brooke who she really enjoys and the two of them seem to get along really well!

My mom survived her first day of watching the girls and they had a good time at Ballet. Maddie and my mom go together and my mom said that Maddie wouldn't put her shoes on for her class and any time the teacher praised her she would stop everything and become embarrassed! That girl! Taylor loved being back in Miss M.C.'s class and my mom said that she did a great job of following directions, listening and participating during her class time.

Dave and I are settling into our new school years; Dave had a busy week with open house and a football game. I am still carrying 30 kids in my classroom so I feel like I am trying to just survive at this point. By the end of the day I am so tired of asking 6 year olds to turn off their voices! I am looking forward to Tuesday( a tentative day for a new class to start) when I can actually teach!

Other than that, not much else is going on. Dave goes to Arizona on Friday to meet his friend-they are going to watch ASU play Georgia. This has become an annual trip for the two of them- they meet somewhere different each year for a football game. They always have a blast together! I think the girls and I are headed up to Everett to see family which will be nice. We haven't seen anyone since school started. Wishing everyone a happy and hopefully sunny week!

Back To School

It is so easy to forget during the summer months all the things that go on throughout the school year! This past week has been a huge wake up call for me! Getting up early, packing the kids up for daycare, working and then coming home and doing the whole family thing! We had lots of adjustments we had to make last week- Taylor and Maddie started a new day care after going to the same day care for 2 years. Taylor did a great job of adjusting and is having lots of fun. Maddie has had a harder time. On the first day I drop the girls off she screamed and cried for me and had to literally leave while she was crying (broke my heart!), the second day, she only cried and on Friday she simply whimpered. I know she is having fun but everything is so new to her and it is going to take her some time to warm up to Miss Brenda. The picture I am posting is of the girls after their first day at the day care. Taylor insisted on me taking it with Miss Brenda's angel that she has in her yard. I have no idea why she wanted it but it cracked me up! I had an absolutely crazy week at work. Our first grade classes are completely on overload right now so I ended up having 29 kids in my class last week- 20 of which were boys. I have never had such a challenge as to having so many kids in my class but I was really proud of how well the kids did for it being their first time being in school all day long. We are opening up another first grade classroom sometime this week (hopefully this Wednesday) and then all of the teachers will have 22 students. I feel horrible about having to let 7 kids go on to another classroom but none of us can teach effectively with so many students in our classrooms. Dave is really enjoying working at the high school this year. He is so much happier when he gets home and seems to love working for his new principal.

We are headed for another busy week~ Taylor and Maddie start Ballet tomorrow and I wish I could be a little mouse for this as my mom is going to be watching them on Monday's and taking them to their classes! She has to participate in Maddie's class and I can't wait to hear the stories tomorrow evening! I have Bunko this week and Dave has open house at the high school and a community parade on Saturday. All is well though and we are all healthy and happy! Wishing everyone a great week!
