Mommy, Taylor and Maddie's Fun Day Together

This morning the girls and I were finishing up a yummy breakfast of homemade waffles (one of Dave's specialities) when Dave surprised us with a gift card to my favorite pedicure store! I have been desperate to have one since we have moved in- my feet are not used to the hardwoods yet and with all the unpacking they were pretty beat up. So, with a big hug and kiss to our favorite guy, the three of us headed out to get our toes done. Taylor has had her toe nails painted a few different times for special occassions but Maddie had never been before. Taylor knew exactly what color (purple of course!) she wanted and Maddie quickly followed suit choosing an extremely bright pink for her toes! As I was sinking my feet into the warm water, Maddie started to cry because I think she thought she was going to have to stick her feet in as well. So, I got a majority of my pedicure with her sitting on my lap! She finally relaxed towards the end of it and ended up sitting in the chair next to me with her big sister Taylor. We had a very fun time and the girls were very proud of their toes (and hands for Taylor!). We ended our outing with a trip to Old MacDonalds for lunch- Yum! It was a great way to start our week out that's for sure! Our week seems to already be filled up- we are making raspberry jam with some of our friends tomorrow and then on Thursday morning we are heading over the mountains to spend the week at Crescent Bar with Grandma Kathy! Wishing everyone a happy week! ~Heather~

SPU Basketball Reunion

Wow! A majority of my old (it is weird saying old!) teammates came over for a BBQ and major catch up chat session this weekend. It was just like old times! We came together like we hadn't been apart for ten years! We had lots of laughs and lots of reminiscing about all sorts of random things. Everyone brought their children as well and at one time I counted 13 kids running around having the best time together! It was an evening that I won't forget for a very long time!Beth and I~Great Buddies all through College!

Chantel A.K.A Snax and I~College Roommates

Left to Right~ Stacy Brough, Beth Palmer, Lynne Roberts, Linnea Jarvits, Chantel Vinson, Hannah Bradford, me, Wendy Kuipers

Chantel, Beth and I~ Still laughing at each other even after 10 years! Also, this is Beth's son, Jace, who was best buddies with Taylor this weekend. They were sad to leave one another.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Fun pictures of the house

I feel like I have been posting way too much about the house....but couldn't resist a few pictures of mostly completed rooms. We are finally in the stage where we get to decorate so it has been fun putting our ideas onto walls and things.

This picture isn't that great- but I saw this at a friends house and asked her if I could borrow her idea. It is a curtain rod with hooks to hang the kids art work on...I love it!

I have had these old fashioned alphabet cards for over 3 years...a gift from my mom. It is nice to finally have a spot for them!

Here is Dave's "man" room....I have never seen him quite so excited about something. He is so proud of his Cougar room :)

Up close picture of the life size cougar stadium rug. The girls love running end zone to end zone and call this daddy's Go Cougs rug!

The mini wet bar- I am thrilled that all these lovely glasses don't have to go downstairs in my kitchen cupboards!! :)
Wishing everyone a fun weekend! I will post again soon with pictures from the SPU 10 year girl's basketball reunion we are having at our house on Saturday night. It is sure to be a fun evening!

Update on Life!

I am happy to type this post on our computer in our own house! The last ten days have been filled with unpacking, organizing and putting things away at the house. I am happy to report that all the boxes have been sorted through and the only thing we have left to organize and clean up is the garage! Our next project is to start decorating and hanging things on the walls! My mom visited (okay, really she worked her buns off!) for 7 days and helped clean and organize and entertain the kids. She was a huge help and there is no way I could have gotten as much done as I did without her. Thank you mom! We did manage to take a few breaks but not many. Taylor had to visit the dentist last Monday. This was her second visit and she did a lot better this time. She let the dental hygienist "sparkle" her teeth and floss them. When the dentist started to come in to the room, she told me that the last time he had come in she cried. She informed me that she wouldn't cry this time (phew!). She was pretty funny about the whole thing.

Taylor at the dentist!

We also went to the Lakefair parade on Saturday. It was a great way to spend our Saturday afternoon. The sun was shining and the girls were excited to be out of the house! Maddie and Taylor both ended up loving the parade. Maddie really enjoyed all the horses and she especially got a kick out of them when they would walk by and poop (I know, it's gross!) and we had the privilege of seeing one of them pee as well (even more gross!). She is still talking about it today! Taylor went into the parade really thinking her favorite would be the clowns. She did enjoy them, however her favorite ended up being the princesses of different cities!

We have also been very busy making sno-cones! My mom had gotten Maddie the old fashioned, well, at least from my childhood, Snoopy sno-cone maker for her birthday. My memory of the sno-cone maker was completely different then when I was a little girl! As a mom, that thing was NOT fun. You spin the handle a hundred times and out pops a little teeny tiny bit of ice! Ugh! I told my mom that the girls would really love an electric one for Christmas....

All is well here. We are feeling very blessed to have such a beautiful new home and to be healthy and so happy! I leave you with one final picture of the girls. They were so very excited to find their dress up clothes in their new toy room! I will post again soon with some pictures of the house. Love to all~ Heather

Florida!

We are back in Olympia safe and sound from a very fun (but exhausting!) trip to Orlando, Florida! We had a really great time! It was so nice to be together just the four of us. Taylor and Maddie were truly so good throughout the trip which Dave and I were so thankful for- we were worried about the plane ride and sleeping and both turned out really well. We spent the majority of our time in the pool so we all have great tan lines from the waist up :) We also went to Coral Springs, Florida to visit our good friends the Loonams. It was so nice to hang out and catch up with them. The girls had fun with their three kids, Joe, Grace and Tab. We ended our trip by spending two days at Disney World. The girls loved going up in rides that took them way up high (like Dumbo and Aladdin's Magic Carpet) but when it came to anything with a witch (Snow Whites Scary Adventure) or the dark (Pirates of the Caribbean) they wouldn't open their eyes until the ride was over! Their two favorite rides were the carousal and It's A Small World. Taylor was also quite thrilled because she got to listen to Belle tell a story and get her picture taken with her!

We were glad to get home- it was the weirdest weather in Florida. It was always hot (90+) and humid but all of a sudden during the day it would cloud up and rain and thunder and lightening!

When we got home we had a garage sale (it was so nice to get rid of some un-needed things!) and now we are getting started on unpacking all the boxes in our house. Dave has spent the last two days putting together bar stools, beds and more closets- which is great! Thank goodness he is handy like that!

I will leave you with a few pictures from our trip....
